Emily M. Rife is a Senior Partner with Impact Associates who approaches conflict with a steady, grounded presence and a genuine belief that even the most difficult situations can lead to meaningful change. She works with individuals, teams, and organizations to navigate complex challenges with clarity, intention, and care.

Her work focuses on workplace conflict, collective bargaining, and employment-related issues, where she is known for helping people slow down, communicate more effectively, and move from positions toward shared understanding. Emily draws from a range of approaches, including Interest-Based Bargaining, Traditional, the Intentional Model, and Affinity processes, adapting each to meet the needs of the moment rather than relying on a single method.

In addition to mediation and facilitation, Emily conducts organizational climate assessments that give teams and leadership a clearer picture of what is really happening beneath the surface. Through confidential conversations and thoughtful analysis, she helps identify patterns, uncover root causes, and create practical paths forward that strengthen trust, accountability, and connection.

Emily’s international work reflects her commitment to building effective and accessible dispute resolution systems across different contexts. In Kosovo, she partnered with mediators, institutions, and community stakeholders to support the development of a stronger mediation infrastructure, including training, mentorship, and institutional capacity building in a post-conflict environment.

More recently, Emily served as a subject matter expert in Pakistan through the Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program, where she supported the establishment of a mediation center. In this role, she worked directly with judges and court clerks, providing training on how to design, implement, and operate a functioning mediation program within the court system. Her work focused on building practical skills, strengthening institutional processes, and supporting the long-term sustainability of court-connected mediation services.

Before starting her private practice, Emily served as a Commissioner with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service in Denver, where she worked with labor and management across a wide range of industries. That experience shaped her ability to remain neutral while also being deeply engaged in the process, helping parties move through conflict toward workable and sustainable agreements.

Earlier in her career, Emily worked in labor relations in Los Angeles, representing school employees in collective bargaining, and as a mediator with the County of Los Angeles Department of Consumer and Business Affairs, handling civil, family, and court-ordered cases. These roles grounded her in the realities people face when conflict becomes personal, stressful, and at times overwhelming.

Today, Emily works with clients across the globe, bringing a balance of structure and empathy to each conversation. She is known for creating spaces where people feel heard without losing focus on progress. At the center of her work is a simple belief that when people are given the right support and a thoughtful process, they are capable of working through even the most challenging conflicts in a way that leads to greater understanding and lasting resolution.
