Carrie Foster

Carrie Foster is a dedicated and accomplished federal employee with over 24 years of public service experience. As a conflict resolution professional, she excels in delivering unbiased perspectives to address and resolve disputes, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and ethical procedures throughout her work. Carrie's extensive background demonstrates her commitment to promoting understanding and collaboration in complex problem-solving scenarios. 

Before transitioning to private practice, Carrie was a Commissioner at the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services (FMCS) based in Minnesota since November 2018. Carrie specialized in mediation, leadership, and conflict management. In her role, she was responsible for facilitating the resolution of labor disputes, particularly those involving collective bargaining agreements, and preventing work stoppages by fostering understanding among parties involved. In addition, her work focused on improving labor relationships and assisting leaders in building effective workforces. She did this by utilizing assessments to diagnose and create a personalized plan to support conflict intervention and help champion success. 

Carrie’s expertise extends to providing comprehensive dispute resolution training for government agencies, public entities, private companies, and unions. She covers a diverse range of topics, including workplace conflict resolution, regulatory compliance, and multi-party negotiations. Carrie's ability to conduct climate assessments allows her to make tailored referrals and provide essential leadership training, coaching, and facilitation to enhance collaborative discussions. 

Before her time at FMCS, Carrie served as a Human Resource Manager with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In addition, she volunteered her time in local courts providing mediation services in civil and family courts in her local area. Carrie remains an integral part of the community by actively participating on the Board of Directors for the United Way and on the Restorative Justice committee for vulnerable youth. 

Carrie’s drive, passion, and belief in resolution have led her to provide mediation and consulting services not only in the upper Midwest but throughout the country.   

Throughout her career, Carrie has honed her skills in various critical areas, including change management, communication strategies, and interest-based problem solving. She trains both on dispute resolution and negotiation strategies to increase productivity and foster harmonious working environments. Her strong analytical skills, combined with her effective communication and teamwork abilities, empower her to adapt quickly to new challenges while ensuring team success and promoting professional development.
